Novice Class for Pointing Dogs and Spaniels
Starting April 16 th, 2010
The Arctic Bird Dog Association (ABDA) is holding its annual Novice/Puppy introductory class for people and their dogs that are interested in the basics of training for upland bird hunting and AKC Hunt Tests. Weekly classes are starting April 16, 2010.
Up to two training sessions are held indoors starting at 7 PM for Spaniels and 8 PM for Pointing dogs. Location to be determined and announced closer to the start date. Outdoor sessions dates may be flexible, determined by instructor and participants. Total class length is six weeks.
We’ll cover basic commands and obedience needed in the field. We’ll be introducing basic training equipment, its uses, training sequences, methods and suggested resources for continued training. We’ll have separate classes and instructors for pointing breeds and spaniels and flushers. Following the classroom training there will be at least four outdoor training sessions with live birds available for those dogs at the right stage of training.
Class size is limited and classes will be filled on a first come first served basis. Cost of the class is $150.00
